This afternoon we had a surprising visit at Innovalley‘s office. My cellphone rang and a guy told me he was traveling around the world, had heard about us and wanted to talk to us for 5 minutes. He was actually waiting in front of the main entrance. Of course, I couldn’t say no…
His name is JE, originally from Spain. He claims to be the only “inventor” in the fashion world. He told us about his story and his product. The story was quite fascinating and the product looked promising. But what surprised me the most was the way he got some of his relevant business meetings at Hugo Boss and Levis Strauss. He was perseverant, sometimes he just showed up (like he did today) and used inventiveness (like talking to the employees who were smoking in front of the building) to get to talk to his target.
This made me think of the importance of perseverance. To be persistent means that you have clear goals and you intend to achieve them in all means, taking risks and creating ingenious paths. Perseverance is, for sure, a key to success in entrepreneurship, even more than the business idea.
After thousands of efforts to make the electric light bulb, Thomas Edison said, “I haven’t failed, I’ve identified 10,000 ways that it doesn’t work.”
